Lt.Gen.Manoj Mukund Naravane to take on as India's next Army chief the time which the country is witnessing the biggest restructuring in history.



Lieutenant General Manoj Mukund Naravane to be the next Army chief after General Bipin Rawat who is to end his term by 31st December 2019. Lt.Naravane is supposed to serve his terms for a period of 2 Years and Four Months.


Here Are The Things You Should Know About The New Army Chief.


1. Currently serving as the 40th Army vice Chief Narvane,59, is considered to be a China expert having a vast experience in counter-insurgency in India's North - East & Jammu - Kashmir. Before that he headed the Eastern Command based in Kolkata responsible for guarding India's border with China in the eastern sector. Given his experience with the security challenges faced in Kashmir, Northeast and our strategic competitor China he can play a vital role in national security decision making.


2. After General Rawat's term by 31set December 2019, Naravane will be the senior post-Army chief in India. This time the government has gone by seniority. In the past from the panel of top officers, the government had selected few service chief but overlooked seniority.


3. The appointment of Lt.Naravare as Army chief is the time when the country is witnessing the biggest restructuring of its time in history. All this aims to make the Army leaner and meaner for the future. 


4. The biggest challenge for Lt.Naravare would be to get funds to run the modernization program.  Already facing the cash crunch the acquisition program could take a hit.


5. In his 39-year-old military service, Lt.Naravane has raised an infantry brigade headed the Rashtriya Rifles battalion, headed the Army training command and Led strike corps. Being an alumnus of the National Defense Acadamy Lt.Naravane has also served as India's attache to Myanmar and Indian Peace Keeping Force in Sri Lanka.


6. In June 1980 He was also commissioned into the Sikh Light Infantry. He has been awarded Ati Vishisht Seva Mandal, Param Vishisht SevaMandal, Vishisht Sena Mandal, Sena Mandal and also CoAS Commendation Card. 


Education


Lt.Gen.Naravane completed his schooling from Jana PrabhodiniPathshala in Pune. An Alumnus of the Indian Military Acadamy in Deharadun and National Defence Acadamy, Pune Naravane also holds a master's degree in Defence Studies from Madras University not just it, he has also done his M.Phile in defense studies and Management from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. 


Personal Life


Hailing from a Marathi Family Naravane is married to Smt. Veena Naravane and has Two daughters. Smt.Veena Naravane works as a teacher with 25 years of experience. She is also the Vice President of the Army Wives Welfare Association.
