The next range of OnePlus smartphones is expected to be released by the second quarter of 2020. Thanks to the leaks available, there are a lot of features already in our list of expectations. Among the three variants that are expected to launch this year, people are mainly looking forward to OnePlus 8 Lite as this will be an entry-level model from the manufacturers and will be available at a very affordable rate of approximately 430 to 472 USD, based on the variant you are choosing (6GB RAM or 8GB RAM). This will allow OnePlus to capture the mid-segment market and give a tough competition to the other brands selling phones within this range.
OnePlus 8 Lite Specs
Processor, Storage, and Battery
For the first time, Mediatech processor might be introduced instead of the Snapdragon Qualcomm processor. Again, some leaks claim that the Qualcomm processor will continue to be used in the new model too. The 4000 mAh fast-charging battery of the model will feature 30W warp charging and will be compatible with USB Type-C port. The rear cameras, along with a punch hole in the middle, may add to the classy look of the phone. The phone will be a dual-sim one with the options for supporting 4G (Indian bands), 3G and 2G.
OnePlus phones are
highly coveted for the photos they help in clicking and the new model will not
be an exception. The OnePlus 8 Lite will feature three rear cameras aligned
vertically, with 48MP main sensor, 16Mp ultra-wide sensor, and 12MP telephoto
lens. Camera features like Digital Zoom, Face Detection, Auto Flash and Touch
to Focus can be present to enrich your photography experience. An LED flash
along with Continuous Shooting and High Definition Resolution modes will add to
it. The 16MP front camera will come in handy for clicking beautiful selfies.
OIS and EIS Technologies
According to the leaks, the OIS technology will prove to be helpful for low-light photography. Additionally, the EIS technology will cover up the mess created due to the shaking of your hand during videography. It will maintain consistency among multiple video frames.
The screen size will be 6.4 inch with AMOLED display and 1080x2400px resolution. The stunning display will be protected by Gorilla Glass. It will probably have an on-screen finger-print scanner and face-lock features. Dust and water-proof IP53 the coating is expected to prevent your phone from losing its shine with time.
The phone is likely to be available in a cool, blue color. Android v9.0 (Pie) Operating System is expected to keep it operational.
It is needless to say that equipped with all these specs, the new OnePlus 8 Lite will give a tough competition to the existing phones from various brands in the mid-segment such as Realme X2 Pro and Samsung Galaxy A70s, Nubia Red Magic 3S and Vivo V17 Pro.
Let us compare it with the other models to find out whether it will be advantageous over its competitors.
Comparison with Other Models
In the case of Realme X2 Pro, the features will be more or less the same as that of the new OnePlus 8 Lite. The dimension of 8 Lite will be a bit smaller as compared to X2 Pro, the screen size of the former being 6.4 inches and that of the latter being 6.5 inches. Nubia Red Magic 3S will have a greater battery capacity of 5000mAh and other specs similar to 8 Lite. Vivo V16 Pro has similar storage capacity, a little higher battery capacity and other features similar to Lite.
Comparing the expected specs of 8 Lite with that of the exisitng models, we find that this upcoming variant will be somewhat similar to the popular mid-segment phones in terms of look, the picture quality of the camera, storage and other features. However, the brand name of OnePlus is what will differentiate it from the models from other companies. OnePlus is the dream phone of many, after iPhone. Getting a lite variant of this highly coveted brand at such a reduced price compared to the predecessor models will surely attract buyers from the mid-range segment. Not many would want to miss a chance to grab OnePlus at the cost of Vivo or Realme phones with similar offerings.
However, less RAM and a slower processor as compared to the flagship models will be among the negatives that might prevent people from buying the lite version.
Samsung Galaxy A70s, another major competitor offers almost similar features though the size is a bit bigger and thus a little less handy. Samsung is a trusted brand for years, some buyers may consider buying a Samsung model as well.
We may conclude by saying that it is too early to say whether OnePlus 8 Lite will be worth buying over its competitors as the manufacturers are yet to declare its specs officially. But it is needless to say that it is going to be one of the most awaited releases in the world of smart-phones in 2020!
