Pulse Polio Programme 2018 launched by President Ram nath Kovind

New Delhi : President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind launched Pulse Polio Programme 2018 this Saturday. He administered polio drops to children of under 5 years of age. On the eve of National Immuunisation Day which will be observed tomorrow The President adminstered these drops to kids. said the Union Health Ministry Statement.


As a part of Government of Indias drive these drops will be given to around 17 crorer childern under 5 years of age. 


On this occasion Union Health Minister J.P.Nadda said,We need to remain vigilant and maintain the populations immunity, and carry out sensitive surveillence till global polio eradication happens as the polio virus is still circulating in other parts of the world which may reinfect us. 


Government is making all efforts to protect childrens from dieases he added.


Nadda Said,It is important that all vaccines under this programme reach every child of our country, to mitigate the risk of poliovirus importation, immunity against the infection is maintained through national and sub-national polio roundsalong with sustained high quality survillance.





To provide additional protection to our children, the health ministry has also introduced the Injectable Inactivated  PolioVaccine (IPV) into its routine immunisation programme. He added.


The Union Ministry prime focus is to protect childrens from various diseases to which it has introduced several new vaccines Pneumococcal Conjugate, Measles-Rubella and Rotavirus Vaccicne.


The Minister said that introduction of such programme has significantely declined the morality rate in the Infants. As per (SRS Reports) the morality rates were 39 in 2014 and came down to 34 per 1000 live birth 2016.
